Ceva interesant despre upgrade de turbo la 1.8T:

I've had a K03, K04 and K03S and the above comments just don't ring true. I don't want to get into the BHP numbers achieved other than to ask if the figures quoted are flywheel or wheel figures as most US tuners tend to only quote WHP.

The K03 and K04 are dated weak turbos in comparison to the K03S. The K04 can move more air than K03S at the same pressure, however the K03S is considerably stronger so can run higher levels of boost. From what I have seen comparing BHP figures there is usually only around 5bhp difference in peak power between the K03S and K04. The big difference is the K03S' stronger midrange and much higher torque. If the two turbo's rolling road graph's were compared the following would be observed:

K03S - Torque comes in early and with a big spike, holds well in the midrange but drops off towards the end. This is reflected in the power with a steep rise but flatenning earlier.

K04 - Torque comes in later due to later spool up, spike isn't has high but torque is flat and holds upto the higher revs. Power is more uniform upto the high revs.

The end result is peak power is about the same for both, they just get there in different ways.

As for the K03 it's a bit pants, low torque and not much happening after 5krpm. With just a remap they give about 185-190bhp with loads of other mods you should be happy if you break 200bhp.

Si inca ceva: se observa ca producatorul BorgWarner-KKK spune despre turbinele "K03S" (adica K03-xxxx-xxx-x052/053/058 ) ca au "an improved and slightly larger compressor while using the same turbine (still with the same installation dimensions)", fara sa dea nici un fel de cote. Prin diverse articole mai mult sau mai putin informate se spune ca rotorul de la compresor e "cu 1mm mai mare" sau "cu 5mm mai mare", sau "rotor de K04", dar se pare ca nimeni n-a masurat ca sa stie exact cat e, toti vorbesc din auzite

Diferenta vizibila e rotorul cu 8 pale fata de cel cu 12 la un K03 "standard"

Diferenta e ca unul e hibrid, iar celalatul e "normal", deci fara o diferenta considerabila intre marimea turbinei - compresorului.
Asa sunt turbinele la rallycross si wrc (GT3082R) si din cauza ca turbina e ralativ mica, face presiune la o tuaia mei mica, evident decat una simetrica. Dar daca sutnme prea lacomani poate sa aduca si un drawback, daca turbina e mrea mica, desi face presiune la turatie mica, la turatie mare impiedica evacuarea gazelor de evacuare, de asta de multe ori se pun 2 WG mari care asigura evacuarea completa fara detenta, a se observa la Quattro 2.2 25V si la masinile de rallycross care au motor de 2.0 si restrictor de 32mm si scot peste 600cai...

Corectez ceea ce scriam mai sus despre K03 "S", aflam de pe vwvortex ca:

- K04-001 are rotorul compresorului de 50mm si 8 pale;
- K03 "S" are rotorul compresorului de 51mm, 8 pale si o forma cu totul deosebita a palelor care nu se regaseste la K03 si nici la K04;
- K03 are rotorul compresorului cu 12 pale;
- K04 xxxx-xxx-2015 are rotorul compresorului de 56mm;
- K03 si K03 "S" au rotorul turbinei de 44mm;
- K04-001 are rotorul turbinei de 50mm, egal cu compresorul;
- axul de K03 "S" are diametrul de ~4.6mm la capete si ~7mm la palierul central, K04 are dimensiuni aproximativ egale;

Recordul absolut de putere produs de un 1.8T cu turbo K03 "S" a fost de 258 CP la roti (probabil ~290 CP la volanta), cu presiune turbo de aproape 1.84 bar (limita data de fabricant e de 1.7 bar si e mai bine sa n-o atingi) si injectie de MW50 (metanol + apa, 50% din fiecare).

Limita comunicata de fabricant a puterii motorului 1.8T echipat cu K03 "S" este de 220 CP la roti (ceea ce se traduce in ~250 CP la volanta)

TOYOTA CELICA 4WD TURBO ST185 turbina este Toyota CT-26 twin entry , intercoolerele sunt apa/aer [sunt 2 din fabrica] motor 3S-GTE
