Sitting 40mm higher from the ground than a standard Octavia estate, the Scout is better able to deal with knotty tracks.
The car is based on the Octavia Combi 4x4, and four-wheel drive is standard, while 17in alloy wheels are shod with chunkier tyres.
You'll have no problem spotting an Octavia Scout, thanks to its larger protective bumpers, sills and the bash-plate for the engine's sump.
Look closely and you'll also see the word 'Scout' embossed into the front sills and polished twin exhaust pipes.
The Octavia's optional Jumbo Box is standard for the Scout model and there's a passenger handgrip on the dashboard for those extreme off-road ventures.
Powering things on the rough and smooth stuff are 2.0-litre petrol and turbodiesel engines.
The petrol is the 148bhp FSi unit, and the turbodiesel is the 138bhp 2.0-litre engine seen in other Octavia models. Both come with a six-speed manual gearbox.
The Octavia Scout makes it debut in that most extreme of environments, the Paris motor show, before going on sale in the UK at the start of 2007.
