Criza financiară pare că a ocolit zona Golfului: īn Dubai se construiesc zgīrie-nori īn fiecare zi, saudiţii donează un miliard de dolari pentru reconstrcţia provinciei Gaza şi multe astfel de proiecte scot milioane de dolari din buzunarele şeicilor. Ultima tranzacţie care a luat ochii īntregului mapamond este un Mercedes SLR McLaren acoperit īn totalitate cu aur alb. Pentru această maşină, proprietarul a plătit nu mai puţin de 15 milioane de euro.
La un asemenea preţ ne-am gīndi că proprietarul păstrează maşina īn spatele unui geam securizat, cu cīţiva oameni de securitate īn jurul ei. Dar nu este aşa, maşina a putut fi admirată īn parcarea unui mall din Abu Dhabi, proprietarul lăsīndu-i chiar pe curioşi să-şi facă poze alături de bolid.
