Ever wish your receiver had a bigger display? If so, then Sony designed its Active Black Panel (ABP) with you in mind! The CDX-M8800 has a large, full-motion display with high-resolution graphics that won't get lost in a sea of buttons. In fact, there are only two buttons on the faceplate ? one for power-down and one to open the face. Pressing the second button opens the ABP to reveal a full control panel and smaller display on the inside. With the ABP closed, you control the receiver with the full-function remote.

\" I needed to upgrade my car stereo because I now burn my own albums to cd and my old stereo in my car would not play cd-r's properly. Man, what great idea that was! I was satisfied with the factory installed unit in my car until I turned on this unit! HOLY S--- what a difference! I have forgotten from my early years what an upgrade in car stereos can do for sound quality! The Sony not only sounds good, but man, does it look good! There are only two small lighted buttons on the face of the unit...the rest is a blue image screen which will show various wallpapers of cars, bar graphs and so on that scroll when on. With a touch of the left button you open the motorized face plate to reveal a smaller set of controls and the cd slot, plus another smaller image info screen to show you exactly whats going on. You also get a remote to operate everything, and to make any settings changes. When the unit is powered off it goes into a \"stealth mode\" in which everything is just black. It is just a great looking unit that has super features. The cd unit does play all cd-r's,cd-rw's and mp files, and sounds fantastic! Also if you have text on your cd's, they also will be displayed. The tuner portion sounds great also with the feature of being able to label channels, which is just another cool feature! There is also a feature in the unit that allows you to adjust the front door speakers so the sound appears to be coming from in front of you!! I'm sure it just pushes more sound to the front speakers than the back, but the effect is most pleasing. Enough of me rambling about it, I love it and if you are shopping for a new unit, but this one!52 watts times 4 baby!!\"
