The Peugeot 308 hatchback will be launched in Europe in the autumn; it will replace the 307 hatchback, which has been an important car in the Peugeot range with worldwide sales exceeding 3,000,000.
It will be produced in France, at the production sites of Sochaux and Mulhouse and will be available in three and five door versions. The 308 will also be a very environmentally friendly vehicle.
Power will come from a 2.2 four cylinder turbodiesel engine delivering 170 HP as well as the new generation 1.6 litre petrol engine delivering between 75 and 170 HP. It was developed in co-operation with BMW. A particularly sporty RC version performing 210 HP is to follow some time later.
