Hi everyone.

A group of us at the UK TT Forum (UK TT Forum :: UK TTOC) have been having problems with our DSG.
One of the most common faults seems to be with the Mechatronic Control Module failing in the cars.
Symptoms of this include the car not being able to select any gears, or sticking in a particular gear.
A lucky few have had them replaced under warranty, but some have also then needed their gearboxes replaced at a later date.

I myself am currently in the process of forking out £661 towards the cost of my replacement control module, due to me finally getting Audi UK to contribute 60% towards the repair as a goodwill gesture, and my dealer doing the repair at "warranty price" (i.e. no VAT).
The normal dealer cost for parts and fitting is £1755.09
Incidentally, the cost of replacing the gearbox is approx. £5,000.

My fault occurred when doing an emergency stop from 30mph to avoid hitting two pheasants who decided to wander on to the road. The car lost all power and wouldn’t drive as it couldn’t select a gear.
If this had happened on a motorway, I could have been involved in a serious accident.

My car is an 04 plate, which is now 3 and a half years old, and has only covered 33,000 miles
According to Audi UK, my car is "old" and I should expect some electronic failures.
I paid £23,000 for my car, and have owned it for just over a year.
I don’t see why I should have to pay for what is obviously a defective electronic part that should last the life of the car.

Hundreds of TT owners have had problems with dashpods in older cars, which Audi were charging £700 to replace. A large number of the TT Forum member-base logged complaints with Watchdog, and we were successful in getting Audi to admit the parts were inadequate and to re-imburse those who had already had to pay for a new dashpod, as well as offering to replace dashpod failures free of charge in cars up to 5 years old.

We feel that there is a similar problem brewing with the DSG equipment that has been used not only in our TTs, but in a large number of cars across the VAG range.


If you have had a DSG related problem and have been made to pay for repairs, can you please log details of your problem with Watchdog on the link below.
Similarly, if you have had DSG problems which have been replaced under warranty, can you also please log details of your problem with Watchdog, letting them know that you are unhappy about the inconvenience this has caused, and are worried about the gearbox failing again in the near future.

The more people who register, the better chance we have of getting our money back and getting Audi to admit there is a problem with their DSG boxes.

ipotetic vb daca o masina vag este pus ultimul abtipild la 00.01 august, respectiv 1.06 dintr-un an, automat modelul devine "din viitor", ex: adica 1.06.2005> model 2006.
nu am inteles de ce, dar cred ca astea din vag au 3 coite. bine ca nu au spus ca este model 2011, doar este trecut de august...

sunt multe cutii automate peste dsg. mie personal imi plac cele cvt. avea un lexus si chiar m-a impresionat.

pe schema asta, este posibil ca o masina din 2007 aug sa fie model 2008 fara probleme.

@speedy88 in primul mersi, in al doilea rand uite ce am gasit pe unele forumuri: "EU ratings are 95/98 RON, which are equivalent to US ratings of 91/93 AKI.", "RON Reaserch Octane Number. (Used in Europe and elswhere in gas stations)
MON Motor Octane Number.
AKI Anti-Knock Index. This is the number that is posted on the gas station in the USA as "Octane". It is derived as (RON + MON)/2 "

@OPC-ul mi-ar face placere, poate facem o intalnire de gti-uri in constanta :P

Masina e fabricatie 01.2007 din cate imi aduc eu aminte deci e din lotul vechi, oricum momentan nu mi-a facut figuri cutia deloc, schimba insesizabil atat in sus cat si in jos, doar in sport e mai naravasa cand face downshift-uri.

am uitat sa ii multumesc colegului tase pentru sfaturi, log-uri si pentru ca mi-a dat gti-ul lui sa vad cum e cu revo st2, admisie si evacuare schimbate.

azi m-am interesat de o navigatie witson am gasit cu 1900 ron cu tot cu montaj dar am fost sfatuit de Diaa (cei din constanta sigur il stiu) sa nu-i pun asa ceva, acuma stau pe ganduri... de asemenea luna asta cu ajutorul lui tase poate schimb si admisia si as vrea sa schimb franele pe spate cu zimmerman sport si placute ate ceramic, daca brembo-urile de pe fata nu erau noi noute le schimbam si pe alea dar nu are rost, la evacuare inca nu stiu pe ce sa merg.

Nu Zimmermann, sunt multe variante mai bune decat atat. Witson e si sitemul meu si in afara de faptul ca aveam consum de curent in stationare care imi termina bateria si faptul ca pierde des semnalul la navigatie , merge perfect!
Daca vrei iti fac o lista cu evacuari disponibile si le vezi ce si cum.

De ce nu zimmerman ? Am auzit lucruri foarte bune despre ele...
Ok atunci o recomandare pentru discuri spate ? Nu de alta dar pe drumul dinspre Nessebar - Constanta parcurs in weekend franele pe spate erau incinse rau de tot , desi nu am exagerat cu franarea , alea pe fata erau super ok ca temperatura.
Daca ai timp si chef as vrea sa vad niste evacuari

Hai ca iti dau un mail cu evacuarile. De preferat ar fi sa mergi pe aceeasi solutie ca pe fata, in felul asta eviti diferentele de frictiune dintre 2 tipuri de placute/ discuri.
Eu nu am auzit lucruri bune despre ele si in general nu recomand discuri perforate, pentru ca mai devreme sau mai tarziu crapa.

eu mi-am luat tobe borla fara silence, dar cel mai cuminte* model chiar daca nu mai am catalizator, adica urla cel mai putin din gama lor. sincer acum parca mi se pare ca se aude incet, mi-ar fii placut sa se auda mai tare. m-am gandit sa se auda cat mai real cu putinta, nu am vrut sa urle de 600 cp si sa nu faca nici macar pe jumatate!

gandeste-te bine la ce o sa iti iei. am mers cu masini care aveau doar 1 teava si dupa un anumit timp urechea se dreseaza si nu mai gaseste chiar asa suparator urletul acela, il auzi dar nu te deranjeaza.
problema este ca daca mergi la satu mare, o sa faci capul cat un geamantan. nici chiar asa, dar oricum o sa ai migrene.

Cred ca o sa merg pe Milltek (ms tase pentru mail) dar astept sa dau A6-le si dupa ma apuc de investitii mai costisitoare, luna asta vreau sa-mi pun navigatia.

@cox mersi mult, cutia are foarte multe parti bune adica nu se compara cu nici o cutie automata condusa de mine, dar are si cateva puncte slabe, de exemplu e execelenta la acceleratii constante schimba insesizabil, nu stii cand ai ajuns in treapta a6-a in schimb in oras e mai ciudat pentru ca sa zicem ca pleci de pe loc incet schimba 1 - 2 si se pregateste sa schimbe a 3-a si tu o calci ca ai nevoie sa te bagi mai repede, daca apuca sa schimbe a3a si calci acceleratia mai tare ai bagat-o in ceata dar poti sa eviti astfel de situatii mergand pe sport sau in manual.

sunt curios cati nm suporta dsg-ul? eu stiam ceva de ~350 nm. daca intrii in modificari costisitoare, pai trebuie sa te pregatesti financiar f bine.
oricum o buna baza de plecare pt modificat cu dsg-ul.
