BMW Z4 Vs. Mercedes-Benz SLK-Class

When BMW rolled out its Z4 roadster for model-year 2003, we were impressed at how much better the new car was than its predecessor, the Z3. It was more aggressive from behind the wheel, more luxurious on the inside and tougher-looking from the outside.
Then DaimlerChrysler's (nyse: DCX - news - people ) Mercedes-Benz subsidiary overhauled its entry-level roadster, the SLK-Class, for model-year 2005, and we really got a lesson in how far you can take a redesign. A car rarely improves from one generation to the next as much as the SLK did--in this case going from a soft-looking, cramped, underpowered afterthought to a purposeful, exciting and highly desirable car.
Neither the SLK nor the Z4 is inherently better than the other, but both cars are noteworthy for having had extraordinarily dramatic overhauls in recent years. If there is a main difference between the models now, it is that the SLK is a car on the rise, while the Z4 is a car on the slide--owing largely to the timing of their respective overhauls.
But the Z4 and SLK have roughly the same sales volume, despite the fact that the Mercedes has another edge on the BMW: performance. While the Z4's maximum horsepower is 225, the more expensive $62,275 SLK55 AMG uses a V-8 to produce 355 horsepower. (The entry-level SLK, the 280 roadster, has a MSRP of $43,675; the Z4 starts at $34,800.)
While the current SLK outguns the Z4, help is on the way from BMW. Early next year, BMW's M hot-rod brand will introduce the Z4 M Roadster, which will have around 330 horsepower. The company will also enhance the current top-level engine on the Z4 to produce around 255 horsepower instead of 225.

Eu as alege Slk-u. Imi place muuuult mai mult cum arata interior/exterior. Nu sunt fan Bmw.

clar aleg slk ptr ca este mult mai sportiv...
are cateva tehnologii pe care z4 nu le viseaza cum ar fi caldura in tetiere...
paleta de motorizari la slk este mai mare decat la z4...
slk este aparut mai recent ca z4!

cum sa aiba un slk motor mai slab ca z4 bah da prost esti
z 4 in varianta cu kyt m are motor de 3,5 liter in schimb slk are motor de 5,5 litri si are vreo 400 de cai ma

Z4 my choice! Arata f. bine, are mai multa personalitate si e mult mai rapid pe circuit! Si e si mai ieftin, iar Z4 M (am auzit-o la topgear) este referinta in domeniu (chiar si in fata Caymanului S)!

hahaha...pai elementele cele mai importante la coupeurile astea sport sunt caldura in tetiere, volumul mare al portbagajului si motorul economic.
